Illustrator and writer for Mad magazine. Berg was born in Brooklyn and was most famous for his "Lighter Side Of..." feature in MAD, which represented a welcome departure from the more sophomoric humor often found in William M. Gaines's famous 'zine. The Lighter Side would often satirize a specific topic, such as marriage or religion in a subtle manner. For example Berg could never bring himself to say "yecch" or "blech" in any given piece. Berg often portrayed himself in his strips, usually under the pseudonym of Roger Kaputnik. Berg passed away May 16, 2002 in Marina Del Rey, California.
