• English king Henry VII consolidates his power by wedding Elizabeth of York, uniting the House of Lancaster and the House of York after the long and bloody War of the Roses through the sacrament of matrimony.
• English nun Juliana Berners publishes her guide to hunting and falconry The Book of St. Albans with a small, unknown press, using worn-out type discarded by William Caxton. Over the next 50 years the work will become the second most printed book in England, second only to the Bible. It is from this book that the English language got many of its colorful names for groups of animals, such as a "murder" of crows.
• Having been destroyed by the Mongol armies of Kublai Khan in 1287, the realm of Burma begins its resurrection when King Minkyino is crowned king of the town of Taungu.
• Maximilian I is crowned Holy Roman Emperor, reigning jointly with his aged father Frederick III.
