MPP stands for Master of Public Policy, a one- or
two-year degree that allows students to study the creation and enactment
of effective laws and regulations. Some programs allow applicants to come
straight out of college, but many require several years of experience in
the real world first. MPP students take courses in economics,
statistics, policy analysis, international relations, political
science, and law; some programs require an internship in some
organization, and some require the completion of a thesis (sometimes
called a memorandum).
Graduates of MPP programs frequently work in nonprofit organizations,
governmental agencies, and international agencies like the UN or the
World Bank.
