In the 1997 movie William Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet, when the star-crossed lovers first meet, they do so to the strains of 'Kissing You' by Des'ree. The girl from south London has maintained a peripheral popularity since her 1991 debut 'Feel So High' from Mind Adventures (1992). A pioneer of 'Folk Funk' - one of the music press' less durable pigeonholes- she scaled charts with the Terence Trent D'Arby duet 'Delicate' (1993) and, from her second album I Ain't Movin' (1994), You Gotta Be'. This song hit the US Top 5 in 1995- and could be said to have done so again in 1997 courtesy of Janet Jackson's remarkably similar 'Got Till It's Gone'.
