My hands no longer recall the feel
of steering wheels or home cooked meals
my ears no longer hear the sound
of tree house birds or lilting words
I am left in my numb recliner, facing west
staring out onto a yard I do not know,
neither high nor low,
no place to go.
Remembering,
not a soul.
