An
electronic music collective from
Berlin, producing music with
influences from
jazz,
house,
triphop,
drum&bass,
funk and more. Founded in
1995.
The group consists of the
Jazzanova DJ Team (Jürgen von Knoblauch, Alexander Barck, Claas Brieler) along with producers
Kosma (Roskow Kretschmann) and
Extended Spirit (Stefan Leisering and Axel Reinemer).
In
1997 Jazzanova teamed up with Michael Reinboth of
Compost Records. Together they formed a new
label imaginatively titled
Jazzanova Compost Records (JCR) in
winter 1998. The collective is also involved with the
Dialog, No Zession, Airdrops and
Clockworks labels.
In addition to releasing their own music, Jazzanova has also
remixed artists such as
Ian Pooley and
4 Hero. They have also been resident DJs on the
radio station MDR Sputnik's Clubzone show.
Update - February 6, 2000
Jazzanova recently released a compilation called The Remixes 1997-2000 on JCR, offering 2.5 hours of the group's reworks from the 3-year period, with classics like their remix of Soul Bossa Trio's Words of Love. I urge everybody to get a copy of this brilliant record now.
