A native of Vancouver, Lorne lived in Toronto through the 70's and 80's, working in a variety of musical settings as well as arranging and composing music. Since returning to Vancouver, he has been active in local clubs and studios, Arts Club TheatreArts Club productions, (Blues in the Night, All Grown Up, Wang Dang Doodle); Musical Theatreworks' (Back to Broadway); CBC Radio (Hot Air, Jazz Beat) and the DuMaurier International Jazz Festival. Lorne wrote and played arrangements for Renée Doruyter's CD Every Time We Say Goodbye and was honoured to meet and appear with Wynton Marsalis at Pearl Brown's 1996 concert and subsequent recording, Goin Down Home.

Greatly influenced by the jazz piano tradition, he is involved in recording and performing both original compositions and standards and currently teaches jazz piano at Capilano College. A multi-faceted performer, he is experienced in solo piano, small groups, big bands, and is often called to accompany vocalists. He also performs with a string quartet called Hevlor Strings.
