In
Norse Mythology, Draupnir is
Odin's heavy gold ring. It was given him by the dwarves
Brokk and
Sindre as part of a bet with
Loki (see
gifts to the gods).
Every ninth night, eight gold rings just as heavy drips from Draupnir, which probably translates to something like "dripping".
