The dulfersitz is a body rappel that requires no gear and can be useful in emergency situations. The rappel ropes come down between the legs, then under the right buttock, under the right arm, across the chest, over the left shoulder, around the back and under the right arm where the right hand grabs the rope and acts as a brake. Alternatively, replace every instance of "left" in the preceding sentence with "right", and vice versa.

Keep the feeling hand high on the upward rope and the braking hand well forward, look down in the direction of the braking hand and rappel down sideways.

The dulfersitz can be quite uncomfortable. The rope will burn your neck or shoulder if against bare skin or thin clothing. Go too fast and your pants will burn!
