Mackinac Island (place)

Look at the antique store fronts

with horses and carriages rolling by
in front of the Grand Hotel
The people on their porches
watching the shore,
but they see no beach
and yet, behind them
past Fort Mackinaw, stands Arch Rock

Such peacefulness


Suddenly, I hear the cannon

that fires every hour for the tourists.
My ears stop ringing and greet me
with a pleasant clip-clop, as a horse goes past
The foghorn announces the arrival of a storm
that will eliminate the serenety of the waves

And my peace


A lovely place, with friendly people

and no pollution
The invited me, and I went.
Now I'm hooked --
