A Swedish band that first became known as part of the short-lived "new wave of melodic death metal" movement that was mildly popular among metal fans in the mid 90's. By amalgamating multiple musical genres, chief among them being Metal, they trascend categorization. They may be known as the thinking man's metal band, if such a thing were to exist. They have released albums that deal mostly with mystical sounds and atmosphere, very relaxing and inspiring at the same time, with both clean and "screaming" vocals. Their more "melodic" songs are usually better than the "hard" songs, if only for the more experimental and elegant harmonization. If anything, they should be called the Pink Floyd of death metal. Their songs are usually very long, ranging from 8 minutes to one 20 minute song.
