Former presenter of
the BBC's Mastermind quiz show. Born and schooled in
Edinburgh in 1929, where his father was the
Icelandic Consul at the time. Now spends his time writing (mostly translating
Icelandic sagas and
poetry) and presenting prizes at events for the
intellectual elite. The only famous person from
Iceland, apart from
Björk.
Not to be confused with the four times World's Strongest Man Icelandic muscle-man Magnus ver Magnusson.
