Sweet 'n' Sour Spareribs

This is a recipe my mom used to make for us kids. It was one of our favourite meals. Nice and messy. Now I make it for my kids, and they love it, too.

Ingredients

Ribs should be cut in one inch lengths, then cut cleanly between each rib so that all 1" sections have both meat and bone. Allow 3 to 6 sections to a serving.

Place cut ribs, water, soy sauce, and salt in heavy saucepan, bring to a rapid boil, reduce heat, simmer till tender. (45 minutes to an hour) Remove lid; cook uncovered till water is evaporated.

Mix together sugar, vinegar, corn starch and ½c. water; pour over ribs. Continue cooking and stirring till gravy becomes clear. This will only take a couple of minutes.

Enjoy!

Spare"rib` (?), n. [Spare, a. + rib.]

A piece of pork, consisting or ribs with little flesh on them.
