Scribd is a site for online publishing. In a way, it is a lot like everything2, but it is for full literary pieces, rather than the nodes here. It claims to have over 60,000,000 visitors a day, be embedded in sites over 20,000,000 times, and have "tens of millions of documents published". The site can use a style of reading similar to that used by Google Books, where each page is below the other, although you can change it to a more book-like mode and a slideshow mode, and it has a pop-up icon-based menu. Among other features, like commenting, it has 'Readcast's, which are postings to various social networks that you are reading that document. Similar to Twitter, you can follow people, being alerted to everything that they read or add to their collection- the e2 equivalent of a bookmark.
