The art of being a positive pessimist. Expect the worst and be happily surprised if it turns out better. If your expectations are met, you can always squeeze some meagre joy out of saying "there, didn't I say so?". It's a philosphy that lets you avoid many nasty surprises, while having a sense of humour about the whole thing.

Posimism doesn't actually work, but it's still a nice theory.
