(of a set in a topological space:) A set whose closure has empty interior. This is equivalent to the following (more understandable) formulation: call a set containing a non-empty open set a neighborhood, i.e. "somewhere". A set is nowhere dense if its intersection with every neighborhood is not dense (in that neighborhood), i.e. if for every "somewhere" the set is not dense "there".
