A method of publishing manga, wherein multiple stories by different artists, usually all aimed at the same demographic, are collected and published. This is the norm for first-run publishing in Japan, as opposed to the one-chapter-one-book method of publishing often used the States.

Advantages: More bang for your buck. Disadvantages: I've never bought an anthology where all the stories interested me, so in some sense, I'm paying for superfluous stuff.

Some manga anthologies in Japan include:

  • Shounen Jump
  • Hana to Yume (Flowers and Dreams)
  • Asuka Fantasy DX
  • . . . and thousands more. Those are just the ones I thought of off the top of my head.
Manga anthologies in the US include: . . . and probably others that I just can't think of
