A graded potential is a cellular impulse typically found in cells which transmit action potentials, such as nerve and muscular cells. Some stimulus, such as an IPSP or EPSP, photoreception, or pressure, slightly depolarizes or repolarizes the electrochemical gradient. If enough graded potentials depolarize the cell's electrochemical gradient, an action potential may be triggered.
