In film and literature, a flashforward removes the viewer or reader from the stream of linear activity and displays a scene from some point in the future. This is usually done to foreshadow some event to take place between the break in linearity and the event depicted in the flashforward. A more unconventional, less-used counterpart to the flashback, which some consider overused.
