Japanese word corresponding to the interrogative "where" in English (but not the other uses). It is part of the "ko-so-a-do" family of Japanese demonstrative pronouns and interrogatives. It is sometimes more helpful to mentally translate occurences of doko as meaning "what place?".

Watashi no konpyuuta wa doko desu ka.
Where is my computer?

It can sometimes be doubled for emphasis:

Yuufoo desu ka...Doko-doko!
A UFO?? Where, where?!

Immediately related words:

Do"ko (?), n. Zool.

See Lepidosiren.
