Perenal azotemia is a condition im which there is a high level of nitrogen bases waste products in the
bloodstream, caused by conditions that restrict blood flow to the
kidney. This results in a lower
glomerular pressure, and thus a lower rate of
ultrafiltration. Any disorder that is related to a drop in blood pressure, be it shock or fluid loss from major
burns can cause azotemia.
Symptoms:
All that is often necessary to treat the condition is a treatment of the underlying cause. In the meantime dialysis may be necessary to prevent being poisoned by the waste products in the blood.
