A method for
encoding color information, typicaly for analog
motion video. The
luminance and
chrominance channels are seperated, higher
bandwidth is allocated to
luminance since the human eye is more sensitive to variations in that
channel. The Y component carries the luminance, with U and V carrying chrominance information. For
NTSC and
PAL, Y carries the luminance while scaled versions of the (R-Y) and (B-Y) color difference signals are used to modulate the chrominance subcarrier.
