Xtree was the name of a legendary file manager for DOS based systems. Contrary to Microsoft Explorer and other contemporary filemanagers, Xtree's main focus was on being productive, not fancy.

Xtree had (has!) a legion of fans. Some people would use Xtree for everything, including all kinds of file operations like copying and moving files around, editing, visualization, etc.

Unix users can get a taste of Xtree (actually a full featured clone) with unixtree. Windows users can use ztreewin.
