X inactivation is a genetical phenomenon which causes some cells to rely on one X chromosome and others to rely on the other. Naturally, this is only found in the variety of the species with two X chromosomes. Results of this disorder are things such as independently colored eyes (one green, one brown) or Tetrachromatism.
