The single most hilarious College Fight Song
ever written. It is a well-established fact that in the rivalry
and the University Of Utah
, the point of the fight song is won by BYU. C'mon, gang, let's go out there and get Jolly
To be absolutely precise, this is no longer Utah's fight song. But it will forever live in infamy, and be the butt of numerous jokes.
I am a Utah
Man, sir, and I live across the green
it is the jolliest that you have ever seen.
Our coeds are the fairest and each one's a shining star
, This actually used to be a line about raising their beers and lagers, but then Utah got some girl students and they thought they should make some concession to the coeds
Our yell, you'll hear it ringing through the mountain
s near and far!
We're up to snuff, we never bluff, we're game for any fuss.
No other gang of college men dare meet us in a muss.
So fill your lungs and sing it out and shout it to the sky,
We'll fight for dear old crimson for a Utah Man am I!
And when we prom the avenue, all lined up in a row,
And arm in arm and step in time as down the street we go.
No matter if a freshman green, or in a senior's gown,
The people all admit we are the warmest gang in town.
We may not live forever on this jolly good old sphere,
But while we do we'll live a life of merriment and cheer,
And when our college days are o'er and night is drawing nigh,
With parting breath we'll sing that song:
"A Utah Man Am I".
Who am I, sir,
A Utah Man am I!
A Utah Man, sir,
Will be 'til I die.
It's sung to the tune of Solomon Levi.
I hope you'll excuse me while I die laughing...
And then the current fight song (not nearly as interesting) is as follows:
Fight, fight, Utah men, we'll fight to win again,
We'll chase our foes until they bow beneath our heels and know that
We'll keep poundin' at 'em,
We'll not stop attackin',
'Til we gain a vict'ry for our U. of U.!
Fight, fight, Utah women, fight to win again,
We'll play with all our might, we'll raise our flag of red and white,
Our Utah hearts are beating,
Might and mind competing,
Building fame and glory for our U. of U.
