A train station that is the second or third most important
traffic junction in
Tokyo, joining (among others) the
Ginza and
Hibiya subway lines with the
Yamanote line and some important
commuter lines towards the
prefectures to the north and east of Tokyo. The
Shinkansen also stops here.
Among the non-traffic-related features of Ueno are a large zoo and Ueno park, which is completely open to the public and therefore populated by many homeless people.
