Sagwa: The
Chinese Siamese Cat is a short story by
Amy Tan about a
kitten named Sagwa that tends to get into trouble. It even provides a
cute explanation as to why siamese cats have the coloring they do.
This is also the name of a cartoon on PBS about Sagwa and her adventures with various friends and family. Aimed at the under-10 crowd, it teaches kids life lessons and is loosely based on the original story mentioned above.
I caught this on
PBS while
channel surfing today. It was quite enjoyable. The
animation is low-budget, but the characters are so incredibly
adorable, it was hard to turn away.
