The RX3 is a cattle breed created in the 1970's in a rigorously constructed genetic program, designed to synthesize three primary American breeds (all red in color) into one economically utilitarian 'super-cow.'

Combining Herefords and Red Angus, and then selectively breeding specific offspring pairs, the process yielded a breed which is resistant to disease, easily adaptive to differing climates (from New England to Arizona), and capable of producing high grade beef.

The RX3 is also polled, or hornless, and was bred with docility as a chief aim.

This node is part of Tem42's list of cattle breeds, entitled, simply, cattle.
