A freeware utility by RAD Game Tools (http://www.radgametools.com/) for Windows.
RAD Video Tools is a very interesting program, for a couple of reasons...
First, it can operate on Bink and Smacker formats (*.bik, *.smk) developed by RADGT. Smacker was a very popular 256-color video codec used in zillions of computer games; Bink is its successor that works in truecolor world, and is also gaining some popularity. This means that if you see one of those video files in games, you can use the tool to convert the file to AVI. It's thus the only tool for ripping videos from many, many modern games...
But that's not all! somewhat surprisingly, the tool can also convert between any format it knows; it can be used to convert from QuickTime to AVI and back.
Also, in case you are using the RAD toolkit in your games (and got license for those), the program can encode your video in Bink and Smacker formats.
I have found one weakness: It doesn't seem to support AVI compression and doesn't know about OpenDML AVIs, so file size is limited...
