The section in the middle of
GAMES Magazine which is printed on
non-glossy paper so you can write on it in
pencil. Contains
crosswords and other
puzzles. Originally 16 pages long, but briefly 32 pages long with an extra 16 pages of puzzles in the
GAMES Deluxe version available only to subscribers, but which every subscriber I knew got.
Pencilwise also spawned a separate newsletter which was just a Pencilwise section without the rest of the magazine around it, called Pencilwise Extra, which was soon expanded to full magazine size and called GAMES Special Edition, and later renamed GAMES World of Puzzles.
