Nicholas Berkeley Mason was born on January 27th, 1945, in Birmingham, England. In 1965, after meeting Roger Waters in London, Mason joined what later became Pink Floyd, as drummer. He is the only member of the group to appear on every album (arguably because he seems happy to remain in the background, surrounded by prima donnas). He has released two solo albums, Ficticious Sports and Profiles, and has worked with musicians as broad-reaching as Carla Bley, Rick Fenn (of 10cc), the Damned, Steve Hillage, and Gong. More recently, Mason has turned his attention to other hobbies, including Formula 1 racing and vintage cars.
