I've come up with a handful of decent recipes in my day, but this one is by far the biggest success I've had. I've yet to meet someone who doesn't like this one when it's done right. It's easy and absolutely delicious, although not super healthy, so you probably want to save it for special occasions.

Mushroom sauce with port

Wash the mushrooms and sauté them with the butter, garlic and bay leaf until they turn a pleasing shade of tan. Add flour and stir in until smooth. Add the pepper and the basil. Add the milk and the port and stir in until the port is cooked in. Serve over chicken, steak, pasta, or toast!

Serves 3-4.
