The day before last, an idea infected me
Crawled out of my friend's mouth, up my spine
Legs made of chitin, orbs like the sea
Slit open my neck, on my brain it dined

Crawled out my friend's mouth, ran up my spine
Jammed those legs into my grey, slammed itself home
Slid up my neck, on my brain it did dine
Now in bed I lay, my mind it does roam

Jammed its legs into my grey, made a new home
Lashing, whip-like tail protrudes from my back
In bed I lay, wishing my mind didn't roam
This notion, this concept, I simply can't hack

Lashing whip-tail coming out my back
"What if they don't want you," he said
This concept, the notion I cannot, will not hack
"when you go home, to them you'll have been dead"

"What if they don't need you" he said
My friends, my life, all that I know
"when you get home, you'll be back from the dead"
Amongst them, amongst my life, I'm pretty slow

My friends, all that I know
I duplicate myself, preparing to separate
Amongst them, to them I am slow
The new me buds off, together we congregate

I duplicate myself, ready to separate
I look at my other self, the one with the beast in its brain
The new me buds off, against one another we congregate
I pull at its form, make it feel pain

I look at the other me, the idea lodged in it's brain
I am whole again, the Zonk I must be
I pull at the rotted form, make it feel pain
A part of them I am, that I now see

Legs of chitin, orbs like the sea
Destroy broken copies, that we must do
The day before last, an idea infected me
Without me they are not they, what?, I haven't a clue
