MSW stands for Master of Social Work, an advanced degree that takes
from one to two years to complete. After earning their degree, students
can find work in a wide range of fields. Some MSWs serve as
therapists, policy-makers, or adoption
counselors. Others work on issues like homelessness,
veterans' affairs, domestic violence, or women's health.
Still others work as liaisons between ordinary citizens and large,
complicated organizations--for example, MSWs at hospitals often help
patients find visiting nurses, nursing homes,
hospice care, and so forth. It's impossible to list all the areas in
which they work, since they can be found in almost any setting in which
people need help.
Bad MSWs can count themselves among the most useless and stupid human
beings on the planet. Good MSWs can enrich and improve lives beyond
measure.
