Maybe it's the crackling energy
from the audience
. Maybe it's the anticipation
of the "do-or-die
" actions about to happen. Maybe it's the feel of being the center of attention
for hundreds of people.
Whatever it is, all I know is that whenever I get onto the stage
, I feel an adrenaline rush
. I look at the other members of my a cappella group
as they feel the rush, too. We look into each others' shining eyes
and feed off of each other
. The audience attempts to hush itself
into a low murmur
, ready to burst
out with applause at any moment.
Then there's that moment of silence
before we start singing.
Time hesitates for an eternal moment.
God, I love this.
