Paul, Hermann and Jean Limburg.
Little is known about them: they were probably born in Flanders
around 1380 by artistic parents and, following their parents' careers
, soon got apprenticeship
s in their uncle's studio.
In 1402 the brothers had entered into the service of Jean of Berry
. Records from the Duke's household mentions a great number of paintings, but only the Très Belles Heures
and Très Riches Heures
The three brothers all died at the same time, presumably in some epidemic
in February 1416
