An old-fashioned
term to describe the situation when someone says they're
just kidding, but really they aren't. Often used in conjunction with
facetiousness and
duplicity.
This term was bestowed upon me with a knowing look by my high school nurse when I came in one too many times with a forged absence excuse note.
