Joseph Krumgold was born in Jersey, but I don't know which one. He was the first person to win the Newbery Medal twice, for ...And Now Miguel in 1954 and Onion John in 1960.
He also wrote a book on Henry III and a book on Turkey (The Most Terrible Turk), which have since gone out of print.
Krumgold's family was in the motion picture business, though I don't know how. He himself wrote screenplays and produced several films, including ...And Now Miguel and Sweeney's Adventure. Apparently ...And Now Miguel existed first as a movie, which he later wrote into a book.
That's about it.
Books:
...And Now Miguel (1954 Newbery Award)
