John Bowlby, (
1907-
1990), was a famous
British psychologist who graduated from the prestigious
Cambridge University. Bowlby became Staff Psychologist at the
London Child Guidance Clinic soon after graduating.
Later, Bowlby transfered to
Tavistock Clinic, where he held the position of chairman in the department for
children and
parents. His work covered a variety of topics from crime and
juvenile deliquency, but most notably he created a widely-studied theory of
attachment and the
maternal deprivation hypothesis.
