One of the best "fake ad" skits on Saturday Night Live
. It was first broadcast on 21 Oct 1995. It shows a group of kids playing with a ball and a cheery voiceover shouting "It's happy! It's fun! It's Happy Fun Ball!" Then a cliched narrator expounds on the virtues of the Happy Fun Ball while quickly running over the small drawbacks, which include: "Itching
, Tingling in extremities
, Loss of balance or coordination
, Slurred speech
, Temporary blindness
, Profuse sweating
, Heart palpitations
." This might be because "Ingredients of Happy Fun Ball include an unknown glowing substance which fell to Earth
, presumably from outer space."
But I think all rational humanoids
can agree that the true brilliance of the bit is distilled into one perfect line.
"Do not taunt Happy Fun Ball."
