A type of garnet which yellowish-green instead of red. Grossularite looks like peridot or jadeite, depending on whether it is transparent or cloudy. The transparent type is found in Sri Lanka, Pakistan, southern areas of the former Soviet Union, and parts of Africa; the cloudy type is found mostly in Southern Africa and is known as Transvaal jade or African jade.
