copyright 1994 Peggy Rathmann. Putnam. children's picture book. 40 pages.

Like Rathmann's Ten Minutes Till Bedtime, this one is also very short on text, big on interesting, your-own-story-tellable illustrations. I think the only words are "good night, hyena . . . good night, giraffe" and so forth, as a zookeeper locks down the zoo. Of course something WACKY occurs - the gorilla lets everyone back out of its cage and they all troop behind the zookeeper silently, shhhh, as he makes his rounds, later all ending up in his bedroom, smooshed into bed with him and the missus. It's cute, not dumb, and I like it.

Also available as a board book, if you think someone might like to gnaw on it.
