Glenmorangie is a
Scottish single malt whisky distilled in
Fearn,
Ross-shire, on the shores of the
Dornoch Firth. The first
distillery was built in
1820, and licensed by the Matherson family in
1843. They purchased second-hand stills from a London
gin distiller, and these add a unique quality to the finished product, as well as being smaller than the traditional whisky still. By
1980 there were four stills, growing to today's eight stills.
Glenmorangie produces a wide range of whiskies, from the 10 year-old Highland Single Malt Whisky, through to an 18 year-old. Many of these prime malts are matured in bourbon and then in port or sherry casks, producing both a mellow taste and fascinating nose to the spirit.
