The center of
downtown Cincinnati,
notionally if not
geographically. A large portion of a
city block that has little
built on it. It the
location of one of the Queen City's more
famous
landmarks, the
Tyler Davidson Fountain.
A stage at one end usually has performers during the summer. On
pleasant afternoons, scores of office workers can be seen eating
their lunch there. I like to, munching on take-out tacos.
During December, they set up an ice skating area, and put up
Christmas decorations.
Rallies are often held there. Sometimes, it is to mourn, as was
the case after September 11, 2001. Other times, to celebrate, such
as a World Series win by the Reds. Or, on occasion, to protest.
