Fernando Sorrentino (born November 8th, 1942) is an Argentinian author. His work has been translated into 13 languages and includes 6 short story collections, a novella and books of interviews with Jorge Luis Borges and Adolfo Bioy Casares.

Several of his stories are available online and I thoroughly recommend them. Baffling, surreal, funny and often oddly thought-provoking, they recall Borges and Kafka but have a lighter touch; a gentler humour and humanity.

There's a man in the habit of hitting me on the head with an umbrella. It makes exactly five years today that he's been hitting me on the head with his umbrella. At first I couldn't stand it; now I'm used to it.
