Eraser carving is the craft of, well, carving an eraser to form a rubber stamp. The basic equipment needed for eraser carving are:

  1. An eraser. The best sort of eraser for eraser carving are the white Staedtler Mars-type. Incidently, they are also the best sort of eraser for erasing.
  2. A knife. Usually the knife is an X-Acto 11.
  3. An ink pad.

It's important to remember that you have to carve the negative image of what you want the stamp to print.

The charm of eraser carving is that it's cheap and quick and easy. It's entirely possible to get very satisfying results in under a half-hour.
