I sensed from the start that something was wrong

from wrong things got worser even than worse

and by “wrong” I mean “broken” and I thought at first

it might be my heart though I don’t use it much

but as it turns out it’s my head that is broken

and by “head” I mean “mind”

I gave it a whack like an old TV set

next thing I knew it came all apart

pieces went missing as they’re wont to do

they rolled under something too heavy to move

I found the instructions but they’re all in Chinese

and I can’t get Tab A to fit in Slot B

I could buy one on Amazon that’s shiny and new

they have some on eBay that are all slightly used

but everything now is so complex of course

all Bluetooth and wi-fi and usb ports

I don’t need bells and I don’t need whistles

I only need something that’s basic and simple

by “simple” I mean like the one that I had

nothing fancy no frills that’s all that I ask

and I swear if I do find another somewhere

the mind that I broke’s going straight to Goodwill.
