Daryl (Barret Oliver) is found wandering with amnesia. The Richersons (Mary Beth Hurt and Michael McKean) want a child, but have been unable to have one due to infertility. They take Daryl in until more can be found out about his past. They slowly start to realize Daryl is special and has abilities others don't possess.
It has been a long time since I saw this movie. I remember thinking it was really cool. I don't want to give too much of the plot away but I think from the title and the summary above you can figure out that Daryl is not human in the normal sense. It was a great kids' movie for its day and explores some ideas about artificial intelligence.
