Named for its proximity to both the National Archives and the Navy Memorial, the station is also close to Ford's Theater and the National Gallery of Art. As part of WMATA's Arts in Transit program, this station features a green marble wall entitled "Ocean Piece" featuring poetry at each end of the wall.
