Αγηνωρ
Mentioned in the Iliad's Catalogue of Ships, as the leader of the Arcadian contingent. He lived at Tegea and was the son of Ancaea and Ios and the grandson of Lycurgus (Table 26). As a former suitor of Helen, bound by an oath sworn to Tyndareus, (see Agamemnon) he took part in the Trojan expedition. On his way back from the siege his ship was wrecked and he was cast up on the island of Cyprus where he founded the town of Paphos and built a temple to Aphrodite. While Apapenor was still at Tegea the sons of Phegeus, Agenor and Pronous, met at his house the two sons of Alcmaeon, who killed them in revenge for their father's murder.
